Kickstarter: Platypod Platyball Ergo and Elite Tripod Heads

Our best Platypod friends have featured their latest product called Platyball on Kickstarter . Platyball is an inverted ball head with really cool design features and mods where the buttons can be replaced with level buttons and levels for an LED based leveling system.

The Platyball Ergo's inverted design consists of three components: a 3/8′ stainless steel tripod body, a quick release buckle and an integrated swivel with Arca-Swiss compatibility with a torsion lock and safety knob, locking wheel and 360 degree viewing markers/arrows. It supports payloads of up to 10 kg (22 lbs) and supports (of course) a bottom-mounted ball assembly that uses "incrementally variable knob tension locking and release" instead of the usual studs you'll find on regular ball caps.

With the Elite Edition you also get a "patented and incredibly accurate LED level meter that sets it apart from other top headphones on the market". For planar power, it uses a standard A23 alkaline battery, works in any orientation, and has three brightness levels for use in a variety of lighting conditions.

The Platyball is currently available on Kickstarter in March 2021 for $199 for an Ergo model or $249 for an Elite-level LED model. For an additional $20 ($219 Elite or $269 Elite) you can claim a Platy Ball through December 2020. .
