Kickstarter: SwitchPod - The Minimal, Versatile, Handheld Tripod
When you are thinking about creating a video blog, one of the most important things to consider is Joby GorillaPod. This allows you to keep the camera away from you by positioning yourself in the frame and acting as a dual-purpose tripod.
If you’ve used a gorilla case, you know it’s designed to be flexible, but depending on the size and weight of your camera, it doesn’t always last. A new Kickstarter company, SwitchPod , is looking for funding for a portable "mini" tripod that converts in seconds from a manual mode to a tripod. The device requires almost no effort to flip, allowing users to easily switch between recordings, keeping the unit on a flat surface after recording without stopping to adjust the stand.
SwitchPod is compatible with any camera, including smartphone and DSLR models. It is made of aluminum alloy and can withstand a load of up to 45 pounds. There are magnets hidden in the legs that hold them close together. The tripod has a standard 1 / 4-20 ”screw for mounting the camera directly, as well as for ball heads and plate support for quick removal.
The tripod legs have two additional 1 / 4-20 "cables that allow users to connect accessories such as light and a microphone, and the design of the legs allows you to attach the SwitchPod to a pocket with a carabiner. Other features include a stronger handle, non-slip legs, a round pad with two finger slots to hold the tripod in different positions and protect the base of the camera.The tripod weighs 11.1 ounces / 315 grams and is 11 inches / 28 cm long in the hand.
SwitchPod will arrive in August 2019 and will cost $ 99, but Kickstarter fans can put in $ 79. You can buy 2 for $ 149 or 5 for $ 349. Only one size is available. Available in black only.
