Review: XTAR SN4 7-in-1 Multi-Camera Battery Charger

Overview: Many photographers buy a lot of equipment, like cameras or video screens. At the same time, they are experiencing severe power shortages, slow charging speeds, and serious problems with luggage of batteries and outdoor chargers.

SN4 is a 4-slot portable camera charger that can be freely removed and installed. It can charge a variety of Canon, Sony, Nikon and other popular brand camera batteries with 7 optional chargers. Supports 4 times fast charge, PD3.0, QC3.0 and 5V 2A.

Functions:
  • One charging base can store two different docking stations and charge up to 4 batteries at the same time.
  • Compatible with over 9 battery models from Canon, Sony and Nikon.
  • Works with TYPE-C with PD 3.0 and QC 3.0 for reliable and efficient charging, 4 times faster and 45W max output.
  • Use the smart 3-step charging protocol to extend battery life.
  • Modern charging algorithms are better connected to chargers.
  • Easy to transport and store, assembly, disassembly and replacement of plugs takes only a few seconds.
  • Built-in safety technology for you and your batteries.

Q: XTAR SN4 is not the first XTAR camera charger. We reviewed their XTAR VN2 and were blessed with the ability to charge different types of batteries from the same database. However, you can only charge two types of quad batteries (Canon LP-E6, LP-E17, Canon LP-E8, and Sony NP-FW50).

With SN4, you can now charge four batteries with four different types of SEVEN (at the time of writing this review). After seeing this, we contacted XTAR to see if we had a tool to test it and compare it to VN2.

UN2 is listed incorrectly and is not easy to find. XTAR plans to offer its product with SN4 on Kickstarter .

Note. You can choose/purchase batteries depending on your device. This review covers all boards you can buy.

The SN4 comes as a nice big hard drive. The box above contains a wire filter bag for storing drumboards and other accessories.

The guide includes USB-C to USB-C cables and battery boards, as well as sealed foam clips for SN4 heads. There is an empty hole in the upper right corner of the bubble. The XTAR 45W PD charger is available here, but the PD charger is outside the scope of XTAR. I bought a 100W Ceret charger from Amazon . If you have a PC charger, such as a laptop or Power Bank, you can use that, but if you want to charge fast, 45W is recommended. Something below 45 watts is still worth it, not that fast. Anything over 45W will still charge at 45W, which is the maximum the SN4 can handle.

This is CH4. This is the surgeon's brain that distributes energy between your batteries and tells you when they are fully charged and discharged.

If you only need one side to charge two batteries and both sides are the same, SN4 comes with a blank cover. This means you can add two batteries on each side to charge four batteries.

The top and bottom have an unlock mechanism for detaching the battery cards, while the top has a USB-C port for connecting a USB-C charger cable.

SN4 is twice as big as VN2, which makes sense because SN4 batteries take twice as much to charge. Otherwise, the height and thickness are exactly the same.

The VN2 has an LCD screen that displays temperature readings, mAh and other information. In most cases, this is not really necessary, although the SN4 offers four battery levels and they flash based on the current battery capacity.

On the left, the LP-E6 battery board is comparable to SN4 and VN2. On the right, you can see the comparison of SN4 with LP-E6 battery board and VN2 with Sony NP-F L series battery, the dimensions are the same.

Cash out-

The batteries can be switched between SN4 and VN2, which is good news if you have a V22. All you have to do is buy more boards.

Above are pictures of Canon batteries and compatible cameras. As already mentioned, tiles can be replaced with each other, and no changes were made to existing tiles.

While the LP-E6 and LP-E8 batteries hold both sides of the plate, all other plates only have two plates with batteries on one side.

The last two XTAR batteries are the Sony NP-FZ100 and L-Series. Not found when UN2 was released. But this is good news for all Sony users and those who use L-series batteries for monitors and video lights.

Unfortunately, I don't have any Nikon batteries, but I want to give a sign to those who are interested.

Ability to charge up to four batteries, mix and match batteries. Canon LP-E6 on the left and Canon LP-E17 on the right. This is great because the E6 uses the Canon R6 and RP E17.

But it's also handy because now I can charge and copy both my LP-E6 batteries and my Sony L-series. Because the LP-E6 batteries are on both sides and only hold one side of the L-series (or other boards), the overall unit will be unbalanced.

I have several LP-E6 batteries and can charge up to four batteries. As stated above, since batteries hold both sides, if three are charged, one side will be unbalanced. The same goes for using the LP-E8 Battery Board.

Some SN4 models come with a 100W Cirtek charger adapter and built-in compatible batteries with a 100W USB-C cable . With the 45W PD charger, you can charge most batteries by 75-80% in 1 hour. The only difference is probably the NP-F970 battery, which, due to its large size, charges 45% in 1 hour. Otherwise, any other battery will be fully charged in 1.5 hours.

On the left is an original Canon LP-E17 battery, and on the right are two additional L-series batteries. One of the aftermarket L-series is the Vemico NP-F970 .

If you are on the road and not near a chimney, you can use a portable battery such as the XTAR PB2S to charge the batteries. Of course, this depends on the capacity of your battery.

The photo above shows different configurations. On the left are LP-E6 batteries, from original manufacturers to aftermarket batteries like Vemico LP-E6 . In the middle image, the Vemico battery is on the left and the Canon LP-E17 is on the right. Same as LP-E17 battery in photo with L-series batteries.

Watch the video below to see the XTAR SN4 in more detail.

Bottom line በአጠቃላይ In general, the XTAR SN4 7-in-1 Multi-Camera Charger should have several different batteries to charge any photographer or videographer. SN4 not only allows you to charge different batteries at the same time, but also allows you to charge batteries quite quickly when combined with the cheapest 45W PD charger adapter.

With SN4 you don't need to carry multiple chargers and you have the option to charge multiple batteries. All you need is SN4, power adapter, USB-C cable and boards.

I always keep the VN2 on as it allows me to keep the lights on without having to charge all the batteries at the same time. This will come in handy when I set up the SN4 and I need to recharge all my batteries so they're ready when I need them and when I'm done I need to recharge my batteries.

XTAR plans to release additional batteries to support Panasonic, GoPro, DJI and Fuji products.
