Review: Maha Powerex MH-C980 Turbo Battery Charger-Analyzer
Brief Description. The Powerex MH-C980 Turbocharger charges up to 8 AA or AAA nickel metal hydride batteries in approximately 1 hour. This charger is the best combination of 8 cell chargers with battery health analysis function. It has a special one-touch battery status analyzer with real power indicators for more accurate data. Turbo charging mode allows you to charge the battery twice as fast, while the default mode extends the life of the battery. Thanks to the temperature control system, your battery cools down while charging. For older batteries, you can use a deep air conditioning system to activate them. The large charging screen lets you see the charging status at a glance.

Quality / usability. We have: reviewing several Maha Energy chargers starting with the MH-C800S Smart Charger. It was a great little charger until we replaced it with a giant MH-C808M Ultimate Professional charger. We like the fact that it charges not only AA / AAA batteries like the C800S, but also C / D batteries.
Maha Energy contacted us to find out if we are interested in reviewing the new MH-C980 charger. The chargers were officially released on April 29, 2019. MH-C980 includes charger, wall charger, empty 8-AA / AAA plastic battery compartment և operating instructions. Fortunately, it has a battery compartment. It would be great if the battery could be charged to the battery holder;):
The design and appearance have not changed much. In addition, it has eight battery holes for any combination of AA և AAA batteries. Before that, you have the Condition button on the left, the LCD screen in the middle, and the Turbo button on the right.
Here's a comparison of the new MH-C980 և MH-C808M. The MH-C808M swallows the MH-C980, making it ideal for portable photographers and videographers who need to charge four AA / AAA batteries at a time.
It has a fan hole inside. MH-C800S և MH-C808M have no fans, which makes them very quiet. When the device adjusts / charges the battery, the fan, which is the temperature control system, will turn on for about a minute to keep the battery cool during charging. Unfortunately, it's too high to be turned off.
The back panel uses a single barrel DC connector to mount the charger. C800S և C808M uses PS / 2 style ports / sockets. It is good to see that they are coming from the barrel port. The wall charger plug included in the package is 18V - 2000MAH.
The backlit LCD screen shows the current status along with your options.
- Charging. it will tell you that it is charging with normal charging current
- TURBO. If you need to charge the battery faster, it will charge in half the time
- Prerequisite. If your battery is not charging or has problems, you can adjust the battery
- Capacity - Do not confuse this with battery power (eg 2000 mAh, 2500 mAh, 2700 mAh, etc.). This will show you how much charge is put into the battery. It will start at 0 mA, will work until the battery is fully charged.
- Ready. READY will be displayed when the battery is low.
You can charge one battery in pairs, three batteries or up to eight batteries. If you just want to charge the battery, put it in the battery compartment և it will take about two hours to fully charge it.
Do not forget that mAh is not the current capacity of the battery, but the amount of energy injected into the battery.
If you need to charge the battery faster, whether it is an emergency or you are in a difficult time, you must first insert the battery into the battery compartment, press the Turbo button until "TURBO" appears. After seeing this notification, you can save the rest of the battery. Turbo mode will charge your battery in about an hour.
If your battery does not charge or is stored in a drawer չի not used for a long time, you can recharge it. As in the case of turbocharging, you must first insert the battery into the battery compartment և press the status button until "CONDITION" appears before inserting the remaining battery.
The process of using the air conditioner mainly consists of fully charging the battery before removing or recharging it. Battery adjustment can take up to 24 hours. This does not mean that it will fully charge the battery up to 100%, but it all depends on the capacity of the battery.
Personally, I have a battery for more than a year, I can not charge it even after it is fully charged. I adjusted it և it returned most of my battery. Some were not so lucky
Conclusion. Overall, the Maha Powerex MH-C980 Turbo Battery Analyzer is an excellent small charger (compared to the MH-C808M). It no longer shows the normal battery icon, but now shows how many mAh of each battery is charged.
Unfortunately, the fan sounds too loud. Charging the battery և Working with the charger can be frustrating. I have a battery that charges in my office when I sleep. So I do not hear the voice of the fan.
